* VESTUSTA MORLA > Marzo 13 > Highline Ballroom.

* Quique González > Marzo 13 > Joe's Pub.

Quique González premiers this new project with all the songs that could not have their own space at the ‘Daiquiri Blues’ tour.This show will be presented in a minimalist format  for reduced venues and based on a repertoire of b sides, versions, rarities, his last album songs and mostly non edited songs. * Cristina Morrison, I Love > Marzo 13 > Metropolitan Room.

The debut solo jazz effort from singer/songwriter Cristina Morrison, I Love, introduces one of the most distinctively original vocal artists on the scene today. An accomplished actress, a graduate of the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Ms. Morison’s talent has been hailed as “chameleonic and versatile ” and she brings these same qualities to her music on an album that melds jazz, blues, folk and pop sensibilities of the U.S. with samba, bossa nova and other South American influences, in a unique mélange that is all her own. Born of mixed American and Ecuadorian parentage in Miami, Morrison has resided in Rome, Quito, the Galapagos Islands, Los Angeles and now New York City, resulting in a multicultural world view that is reflected in her music, which is informed by her myriad life experiences and keen observations into the nature of the human character.

The Revolutionary Snake Ensemble is a costumed funk/street beat improvisational brass band performing a unique blend of original and traditional music.
Gato Loco’s live shows deliver an instant party, filled with celebration and joy; like a decadent Latin mambo ballroom, thrown in the midst of a 21st century rock show. Formed in 2008 by NYC native Stefan Zeniuk, the group takes its cues from scratchy pre-war Cuban records and vintage betty boop cartoons, while freely incorporating a modern schizoid mentality. Incorporating equal parts Latin, rock, and jazz, Gato Loco is not genre music.

* The Checkout: Live From 92YTribeca - featuring Alexis Cuadrado: A Lorca Soundscape / Manuel Valera & The New Cuban Express > Marzo 28 > 92Y.

Commissioned by Chamber Music America, “A Lorca Soundscape” reflects on Federico Garcia Lorca's 1930 book Poeta en Nueva York with a series of jazz pieces that use the poetry as lyrics. Lorca lived in NYC for a few months in 1929-30 and he wrote a heartfelt set of poems that reflect on the cultural shock and loneliness that he experienced at the time. The book is a raw social commentary that connects with themes that are still an important part of the American reality today including economic inequalities, racial-social discrimination and the brutality of the urban landscape. Poeta en Nueva York connects deeply with the current socioeconomic climate, the "Occupy" movement, and the general population discontent about how our system is working and Cuadrado's music, in turn, is a contemporary reflection on Lorca's themes and cityscape.

It will mark the first time in their careers that Rodrigo y Gabriela have toured and performed with a backing band.

* Gilberto Santa Rosa > El Caballero de la Salsa Live in Concert > Abril 14 > Lehman Center.
